Shein

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 14 years

Mixed-breed Shein is looking for her retirement home. Our charming Shein is about 14 years old and, after losing her home, finds herself spending her golden years in our large partner animal shelter in Spain. Time and again, we ask ourselves: Who could do such a thing to an old dog? We’ll never get an answer. For us, such a fate is always a source of motivation, because life in a shelter is especially difficult for a dog of Shein’s age— the noise, the restlessness, and the lack of close contact with familiar people are a huge burden for a senior like her. That’s why we sincerely hope that Shein will soon find a loving forever home—or even a foster home—where she can finally settle down and enjoy her twilight years in safety and comfort. A place where she can finally feel at home and rediscover just how wonderful a dog’s life can be. Unfortunately, we know nothing about Shein’s past. Where she came from, what she’s been through, and what paths she’s already walked remain her secret. What we do know, however, is that Shein has proven to be an exceptionally friendly, open-minded, and people-oriented dog in the shelter. She approaches humans with openness and a lovable nature and gets along effortlessly with the dogs she shares her kennel with. Visually, Shein somewhat resembles a Bodeguero mix. Her adorable little ears, in particular, give her a unique charm and make her unmistakable. Plus, she almost always wears a friendly smile on her face—a smile that instantly wins hearts. We’re looking for people with big hearts for seniors who would like to give Shein the chance to spend her final years in dignity and love. She more than deserves to spend her last years not behind bars, but on a soft bed, surrounded by gentle hands and nestled among her own family. Who will give our dear Shein the gift of a loving home once again? Click here to watch Shein’s video!

About Shein

What life with Shein looks like

Shein is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shein, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shein?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shein on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shein if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shein already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shein isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shein and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
