Sherry

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Sherry, a mixed-breed puppy, is waiting for her forever home. Sherry was found with her seven siblings outside a hotel and has been living in our Bulgarian partner animal shelter ever since. In August, Sherry is eagerly awaiting a forever home or a loving foster placement so she can finally start her new life. Sherry is a sweet, open, and curious little dog. She enjoys playing with her siblings and other dogs and is very social within her pack. She is friendly with people and loves being petted. Like any puppy, Sherry still needs to learn the basics of dog behavior. Housebreaking, being alone, car rides, and the many new experiences of everyday life are still completely foreign to her. That's why we are looking for people who can accompany her as she grows up with patience, calmness, and empathy, and give her the time she needs to settle into her new home. Sherry wants to discover the world with her humans, build trust, be nurtured in a way appropriate for her age, and of course, enjoy many cuddly moments. A puppy brings a lot of joy, but also requires responsibility, time, and patience. If you are willing to take this journey with Sherry, you will find a loyal companion for life in her. Who will show Sherry how wonderful a home can be? Adopting a rescue dog always involves taking on special responsibility and can also be a challenge. Dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Sherry, please contact the responsible SALVA Hundehilfe (SALVA Dog Aid) mediator. We would also be very happy to provide a foster placement. Here is Sherry's video.

About Sherry

What life with Sherry looks like

Sherry is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sherry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sherry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sherry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sherry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sherry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sherry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sherry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
