Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Age: Born around March 2026. Gender: Female. Neutered: No Character: Very friendly, puppy-like playful Size: Growing, likely to become medium-sized Sheltered since: May 2026 Family: Siblings Chestnut, Leilani, Anela, Paolo & Sam Hello, dear people… I believe it's now my turn to introduce myself. I am Shira. The little girl with the ears that are too big and the white socks that look like I dressed up extra, but I'm actually just a little puppy trying to understand the world. I still remember how the grass on the field felt. Cold. Wet. Way too big for such a little puppy like me. My siblings and I were suddenly alone. No mom, no familiar heartbeat. Just fear and wind noises in the darkness. I pressed my big ears tightly against my head and hoped to escape this eerie environment. Now I live in the shelter in Romania. Here I am safe. But honestly? The world still scares me sometimes. It's loud here, with barking dogs everywhere, and so many foreign smells. For a little puppy girl, that's quite a lot. Nevertheless, I'm getting braver. A little bit every day. I tippy-toe curiously through my run, sniff everything, and get so excited when the caretakers have a moment for me. Then my tail wags immediately. I wish for people who will take me by the paw and show me how wonderful a dog life can be. People who will laugh at my big ears and never leave me alone. Because I have a lot of love to give. Really, a lot! Are you perhaps the person who wants to take me out of the shelter? Interested? If you are interested in Shira, please fill out our Prospective Owner Form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Shira is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. Ingrid P. P. has taken the paternity for Shira and ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

SteckbriefAlter: ca. März 2026 geboren. Geschlecht: weiblich.

About Shira

What life with Shira looks like

Shira is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
