Adopt Shiro

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: Born around February 2025. Gender: male. neutered: no Character: very friendly, open, cuddly, compatible with fellow animals Size: approx. 46 cm In shelter since: July 2025 Hello, I am Shiro! When I was just a tiny pup, I was abandoned all alone, without any protection or someone to look after me. I don’t know how long I was there – but I know I wouldn’t have survived if someone hadn’t found me. Today, I am safe. I live in the shelter with a few other girl dogs – we get along well, and I’ve learned that life can be beautiful again. I’m young, curious, and sometimes a little whirlwind, as befits my age. I love to play and run, but I love the moments when I can just be with a person the most. When I’m stroked, I lean in very close – that’s my greatest joy. I have snow-white fur, a pink nose, and a look, they say here, that goes straight to the heart. I hope there’s someone out there who sees this look – and doesn’t overlook me. I wish for a home where I am loved, where I am shown how wonderful life can be. I promise to give my heart – forever. Your Shiro If you are interested in Shiro, please fill out our Prospective Owner Form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Shiro is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs are neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and they have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. Ingrid P. has taken on the sponsorship of Shiro, and thus ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Shiro

What life with Shiro looks like

Shiro is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shiro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shiro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shiro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shiro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shiro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shiro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shiro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
