Adopt SHOAN

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Breed: HSH-mixed breed? Project: Greece/Larissa Gender: male/neutered Age: born 01.02.2023 Size: approx. medium – large Weight: approx. 17 kg (as of 10/2023) Other: at first a bit shy but very friendly to people, well socialized with other dogs, rather quiet SHOAN's Story SHOAN was found at the tender age of only 3 months at a very dangerous location, directly on the street. Since Andriana still had a spot in the quarantine station, the little hungry fellow could be taken in right away there. SHOAN developed well and already as a "baby" was rather quiet and patiently waited every day for his food. Yes, that's still how SHOAN is today, a nice and rather quiet puppy who wraps everyone up in his little paw and plays very much with other dogs (especially with the girls 😉). Towards strangers, he is at first a bit shy and reserved, but with a little patience, one can win his trust. SHOAN still has a lot to learn, but the necessary training is also the foundation for the future human-puppy relationship. Of course, we don't know which breeds are involved. But given his original background, it is assumed that maybe the Greek German Shepherd was also involved. Therefore, SHOAN will only be rehomed to experienced hands. This is a current and temporary assessment of SHOAN. How he will show himself in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like we humans, will change and develop. But with the right, patient, and loving upbringing, SHOAN will become a great companion. SHOAN is microchipped, vaccinated, treated for endo- and ectoparasites, neutered, and tested for so-called Mediterranean diseases. For SHOAN, we wish experienced people, consistent and loving upbringing, and a cozy and warm dog bed ❤️.

Rasse: HSH-Mischling? Projekt: Griechenland/Larissa Geschlecht: männlich/kastriert Alter: geb.

About SHOAN

What life with SHOAN looks like

SHOAN is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting SHOAN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SHOAN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SHOAN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SHOAN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SHOAN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SHOAN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know SHOAN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
