We keep noticing again and again: people are instantly sold when they see Shrek. And honestly? We completely understand. He's a beautiful Bengal with an impressive presence. But... a Bengal is much more than just a good-looking cat. Shrek is a true Bengal, in heart and soul, which means he: 1. Is very vocal, he clearly expresses what he thinks. 2. Is extremely playful, sitting still is not in his vocabulary. and 3. Is full of energy, he lives very intensely and enthusiastically. Everything must be up for it with Shrek: toys, scratching posts, furniture, your hands (in a playful way), and also other cats. He therefore absolutely needs a playmate who can keep up with his pace. A quiet house cat who prefers to sleep rather than play will become unhappy and stressed around him. We are therefore looking for an equally energetic, social Bengal or similar active cat who is strong on his feet. Shrek is also not really a lap and/or cuddle cat. As if that wasn't enough challenge, Shrek was also tested FIV-positive (feline AIDS). This means he can only live with other FIV+ cats. FIV affects the immune system, making his resistance a bit lower. Therefore, Shrek must stay indoors, going outside is not an option. Let this be clear: FIV does not mean he is sick today. With good care and a stable environment, an FIV+ cat can have a nice life for many years, but it does require responsibility. Shrek is therefore not a cat for someone who is just looking for "a beautiful Bengal." He is a project, a character, a whirlwind with a golden heart. In the right hands - someone with experience with the breed, understanding of his energy, and respect for his medical status - he will become an incredibly fascinating and loyal companion. Dare you look beyond his beautiful coat? Do you have the knowledge, the energy, and the commitment to give him what he needs? Then Shrek could very well be your perfect match. IMPORTANT: Due to the lack of any history or pedigree, it is also unknown which generation it is, therefore adopters from Dierenwelzijn Vlaanderen are required to submit a recognition application (for keeping mammals not listed as positive). We merken het telkens opnieuw: mensen zijn meteen verkocht wanneer ze Shrek zien. En eerlijk? Dat begrijpen we helemaal. Hij is een prachtige Bengaal met een indrukwekkende uitstraling. Maar… een Bengaal is zoveel meer dan alleen maar een knappe verschijning. Shrek is een échte Bengaal, in hart en nieren en dat betekent dat hij: 1. Zeer vocaal is, hij laat duidelijk weten wat hij denkt. 2. Enorm speels is, stilzitten staat niet in zijn woordenboek. en 3. Overlopen van energie, hij leeft heel intens en enthousiast. Bij Shrek moet alles eraan geloven: speeltjes, krabpalen, meubels, je handen (op een speelse manier), en ook andere katten. Hij heeft dan ook absoluut een speelkameraadje nodig dat zijn tempo aankan. Een rustige huiskat die liever slaapt dan ravot, zal ongelukkig en gestresseerd worden bij hem. We zoeken dus een even energieke, sociale Bengaal of gelijkaardige actieve kat die stevig in zijn pootjes staat. Shrek is ook niet echt een schoot- en/of knuffelkat. Alsof dat nog niet genoeg uitdaging is, werd Shrek ook FIV-positief getest (kattenaids). Dat betekent dat hij enkel kan samenleven met andere FIV+ katten. FIV tast het immuunsysteem aan, waardoor zijn weerstand wat lager ligt. Daarom moet Shrek ook binnen blijven, buiten lopen is geen optie. Laat dit duidelijk zijn: FIV betekent niet dat hij vandaag ziek is. Met goede zorgen en een stabiele omgeving kan een FIV+ kat nog jarenlang een mooi leven hebben, maar het vraagt wel verantwoordelijkheid. Shrek is dus geen kat voor wie “gewoon een mooie Bengaal” zoekt. Hij is een project, een karakter, een wervelwind met een gouden hart. In de juiste handen – bij iemand met ervaring met het ras, begrip voor zijn energie en respect voor zijn medische status – wordt hij een ongelooflijk boeiende en hechte huisgenoot. Durf jij verder te kijken dan zijn knappe vacht? Heb jij de kennis, de energie en het engagement om hem te geven wat hij nodig heeft? Dan zou Shrek wel eens jouw perfecte match kunnen zijn. BELANGRIJK: Gezien er geen voorgeschiedenis of stambomen beschikbaar zijn, is het ook niet bekend om welke generatie het gaat, daarom worden adoptanten vanuit Dierenwelzijn Vlaanderen verplicht een erkenningsaanvraag(voor het houden van zoogdieren die niet op de positieve lijst staan) in te dienen.
