Sid

Lurcher · Male · Young · 1 year

Due to never having lived in a home before Sid can be easily spooked by loud noises and sudden movements. For this reason he is looking for a quieter home with owners who have previous experience with dogs who are a little more nervous. True to his breed Sid has a higher exercise level and is looking for a family who can take him on long, quieter walks whilst he is building his confidence. Sid has so much potential and we just know with the right family he will flourish into his true personality. We can't wait to see him curled up on his forever sofa, surrounded by all the toys he could ever wish for. Sid is the sweetest 1 year old Lurcher you will ever meet! He came in to us as a stray and is currently a very worried little boy who is unsure of the world, so is looking for patient and understanding owners who can help him build his confidence. For these reasons Sid would prefer to be the only dog in the home and for all people to be 16 years or older and able to give him the space and reassurance he has never had before. Sid has most likely never lived in a home before and so will need his leaving hours built up slowly at first and may find new household noises spooky at first. Despite all this Sid has already shown us just how brave he is in learning to trust humans, so as long as you are willing to take things at his pace, he is a smart boy who has the potential to be the best companion to his new family.

About Sid

What life with Sid looks like

Sid is a young adult lurcher dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
