Sidney

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Sidney is approximately 3 years old and terribly lonely, because he still remembers what it feels like to have a home of his own. He once had a caregiver, a life and a place where he belonged. Then his owner could no longer care for him - and suddenly all that was gone. For a dog who is so attached to humans like cuddly bear Sidney, this is especially hard. All the more beautiful is that he continues to approach everyone around him openly. Sidney is a dog who not only seeks closeness, but needs it. And not just a little - he would love to be right next to people. As soon as he gets the chance, he immediately presses himself close to someone, enjoys caresses and seems to absorb every second in which someone is just with him. He has such a loving, pleasant way and approaches his counterpart with a lot of trust. Sidney also shows himself to be social and relaxed with other dogs. We can well imagine that he would be very happy about a suitable dog companion in the new area. We do not know if he knows cats. And then there is this beautiful fellow himself: about 55 cm shoulder height, 22 kg weight - rounded off by his dark, slightly longer coat, the fringed floppy ears and the warm, amber-colored eyes. With his appearance, there are certainly some features of different breeds that can be recognized here and there. Which of these actually are in him cannot be said for sure. Sidney is just a very special mix. And the beautiful thing about it: there is exactly one of them. We wish Sidney a home where he can finally feel: this time I can stay. A home with people who are happy when their dog naturally puts his head on their lap. People who give him the time to arrive, learn with him and patiently accompany him as he gets used to the house. Our Sidney is a lively fellow who goes through the world with curiosity and would probably have a lot of fun experiencing things with his two-legged ones. Therefore, a lot of exercise, play and varied occupation should be part of his daily routine. After a positive preliminary check and the assumption of a deposit, Sidney travels neutered, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-free and with an EU pet passport. Sidney has already lost what was important to him. Where can he finally find his place? A foster home would also be incredibly valuable for him. Thank you, Jacky, for taking on his sponsorship. Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 04.10.2026

About Sidney

What life with Sidney looks like

Sidney is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sidney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sidney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sidney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sidney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sidney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sidney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sidney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
