adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sierra has found her people! Her story: Our delicate Sierra one day suddenly stood at the door of our animal rescuer and decided to stay here until someone took her in 🙂 Of course, they did. Who would leave such a pretty mouse at the door when she's so friendly? So, Sierra became an unplanned new roommate and quickly settled in. We don't know where she originally came from, but she likely lived as a house cat. Sierra shows herself to be a bit shy at times and needs to observe new people for a short while before she opens up. She is not only physically delicate, but her nature is as well. She goes through life in a friendly and curious manner and is becoming more brave. There's nothing against her if you pet her and give her attention as long as she got to know you a bit first. In a family of her own, she will surely be a great companion! We wish Sierra a home where she is not the only cat. She is very social and has quickly integrated into the existing cat pack. She also doesn't mind a few play sessions, as she is still young. We also don't want to keep Sierra as an outdoor cat, as we see her only as a house cat due to her sensitive nature – she is also completely happy here 🙂 Will you give our wonderful Sierra a future? Sierra can now start her journey to her new home and, like all our cats, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Additionally, she was tested negative for FIV and FeLV and comes with an EU pet passport. Many thanks Vanessa Z.! You named Sierra! Status: 07.12. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

Vielen Dank Vanessa Z.! Du hast Sierra ihren Namen geschenkt! About Sierra

What life with Sierra looks like

Sierra is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sierra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sierra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sierra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sierra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sierra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sierra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sierra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
