They are moving, they can no longer have the dogs, they are not suitable for hunting – they tell all sorts of stories and make it clear: either they are taken in by the animal shelter or they will be killed. Of course, you will find a safe place at the animal shelter. In Spain, there are about 600,000 Gitanos. They mainly belong to the Kalé tribe, which is related to the Sinti and Roma living in Central and Eastern Europe. Unlike many Roma communities in France or Belgium, the Kalé in Spain are largely settled, with around 80% being sedentary. Many Kalé live in so-called gypsy neighborhoods, their own city districts. There, hunting dogs, especially Galgos, are often kept under very poor conditions and used for illegal hunting or dog racing. The term Gitano is not a judgment but the name for a specific ethnic group in Spain. We use it because it describes the cultural background that, in our experience, is associated with certain housing conditions of the dogs. Our criticism is directed exclusively against the treatment of the animals, not against the people or their culture. After a short time, she shows her cheerful, lively side. She loves to run and play with other dogs, jumping and running around carefree. Throughout, she is always friendly and social – a dog who fits well into a group and seeks harmony. On the leash, Sila already walks very well and calmly. She is open with people, though initially a bit reserved. Those who give her time will experience an attached, lively Galga who enjoys being with her person. Sila is a very social female dog who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Sila wishes for people who enjoy an active but also sensitive female dog. A confident canine companion would certainly be a enrichment for her, but it is not a prerequisite. What is important is calmness, understanding, and the willingness to give her the security she needs. Health Sila shows a mild tic – short muscle spasms in the face. After extensive veterinary examinations, a specific form of an earlier brain inflammation was determined, which likely went untreated. Whether caused by infection or other reasons, it cannot be said anymore. For Sila herself, it is not a problem: she copes well with it and can now rest, cared for and secure. For Sila, it means no limitation: she lives well with it, plays, runs, and enjoys her life. Now, she can finally rest, what she still lacks for happiness is a home of her own. She is regularly examined by a veterinarian, has extensive laboratory analyses, and is vaccinated multiple times, including rabies protection. All our dogs are regularly examined. This includes vaccinations, general examinations, and a dental status check with cleaning if necessary. As new owners, you will receive with the adoption paperwork all laboratory findings and pre-findings as a complete documentation for your veterinarian. Cats The first meeting with the cats went smoothly. Sila found the cats not very interesting. An assessment of cat compatibility is always limited, as the situation in the animal shelter is different from that in the future home, and a dog develops with increasing trust. In Spanien leben etwa 600.000 Gitanos. Sie gehören überwiegend dem Volksstamm der Kalé an, der mit den in Mittel- und Osteuropa lebenden Sinti und Roma verwandt ist. Anders als viele Roma-Gemeinschaften in Frankreich oder Belgien sind die Kalé in Spanien zu rund 80 % sesshaft. Viele Kalé leben in sogenannten Poblaciones gitanas, eigenen Stadtvierteln. Dort werden Jagdhunde, vor allem Galgos, häufig unter sehr schlechten Bedingungen gehalten und für die illegale Jagd oder bei Hunderennen eingesetzt. Der Begriff Gitano ist keine Wertung, sondern die Bezeichnung für eine bestimmte Volksgruppe in Spanien. Wir verwenden ihn, weil er den kulturellen Hintergrund beschreibt, der nach unserer Erfahrung mit bestimmten Haltungsbedingungen der Hunde verbunden ist. Unsere Kritik richtet sich ausschliesslich gegen die Haltung der Tiere, nicht gegen die Menschen oder ihre Kultur. Sila ist in neuen Situationen und bei neuen Menschen immer etwas schüchtern und vorsichtig, doch sie ist keine ängstliche Hündin. Nach kurzer Zeit zeigt sie ihre fröhliche, lebendige Seite. Sie liebt es, gemeinsam mit anderen Hunden zu laufen, zu springen und ausgelassen herumzurennen. Dabei ist sie stets freundlich und sozial – ein Hund, der sich gut in eine Gruppe einfügt und Harmonie sucht. An der Leine geht Sila bereits sehr gut und entspannt.Menschen gegenüber verhält sie sich aufgeschlossen, wenn auch anfangs etwas zurückhaltend. Wer ihr Zeit gibt, erlebt eine anhängliche, lebensfrohe Galga, die Freude am Miteinander mit ihrem Menschen hat. Sila ist eine sehr soziale Hündin, die sich mit anderen Hunden wunderbar versteht.Sila wünscht sich Menschen, die Freude an einer aktiven, aber gleichzeitig sensiblen Hündin haben. Ein souveräner Hundegefährte wäre für sie sicher eine Bereicherung, ist aber keine Voraussetzung. Wichtig sind Ruhe, Verständnis und die Bereitschaft, ihr die Sicherheit zu geben, die sie braucht. Gesundheit Sila zeigt einen leichten Tic – kurze Zuckungen im Gesichtsbereich. Nach umfangreichen, tierärztlichen Untersuchungen wurde eine spezielle Form einer früheren Hirnhautentzündung festgestellt, die wohl unbehandelt blieb. Ob durch Infektion oder andere Ursachen ausgelöst, lässt sich nicht mehr sagen. Für Sila selbst ist es jedoch kein Problem: Sie kommt gut damit zurecht und darf nun zur Ruhe kommen, versorgt und geborgen. Für Sila bedeutet es keine Einschränkung: Sie lebt gut damit, spielt, läuft und genießt ihr Leben. Jetzt darf sie endlich zur Ruhe kommen, was ihr noch fehlt zum Glück ist ein eigenes Zuhause. Sie wird regelmäßig tierärztlich untersucht, verfügt über umfangreiche Laboranalysen und ist mehrfach geimpft, inklusive Tollwutschutz. Alle unsere Hunde werden regelmäßig untersucht. Dazu gehören Impfschutz, Allgemeinuntersuchung sowie ein Zahnstatus-Check mit Zahnreinigung wenn nötig. Als neue HalterIn erhalten Sie mit den Adoptionsunterlagen alle Laborbefunde und Vorbefunde als vollständige Dokumentation für Ihren Tierarzt. Katzen Ein erstes Kennenlernen verlief problemlos. Sila fand die Katzen nicht sehr interessant. Eine Einschätzung zur Katzenverträglichkeit ist immer nur begrenzt möglich, die Situation im Tierheim ist eine andere als im späteren Zuhause und ein Hund entwickelt sich mit zunehmendem Vertrauen.
