adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Silva has found her home! Her story: In mid-January, the gentle female dog Silva settled well into her new foster home. With her slender build, she exudes a graceful and elegant appearance, her short fur is marked in various shades of black and brown, and her refined, narrow face truly makes her a beauty. At first, she was a bit shy but curious. Now, she has thawed out and is already enjoying many cuddles; her trusted people have already taken her to their hearts. Housebreaking, putting on and taking off her leash, and walking on a leash – Silva has quickly learned all of these. Basic commands are also being trained. She already shows good orientation towards the existing younger male dog, who she immediately took to, and he treats her like a "little brother," showing her great affection and can hardly wait to play with her. The two remaining smaller dogs and cat also live in the household and are readily accepted. Silva is still a bit reserved towards strangers, especially when approaching directly, she still steps back. We wish for Silva loving, dog-experienced people who are eager to continue her journey with the sensitive and intelligent female dog and where she can finally find a permanent home. A quiet, rural living location with plenty of space and an enclosed garden would be advantageous. After the initial adjustment period, a visit to a positively working dog training class would strengthen her self-confidence and the bond to her new people. Originally, Silva came from Romania, Baia Mare. She was rescued together with her daughter Aura from the streets of Romania and brought to the Public Shelter in Baia Mare, where she fortunately did not have to stay long. Unfortunately, we do not know anything about her past. Did Silva touch you with her gentle, loving gaze? Silva can be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas with an EU pet passport after a positive assessment. Our thanks go to the namesake Susi G. You gave Silva her beautiful name and thus her own identity. As of 22.01.

Stand: 22.01.2025

About Silva

What life with Silva looks like

Silva is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Silva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Silva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Silva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Silva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Silva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Silva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Silva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
