Adopt Simba is looking for an experienced home! :)

Unknown

Meet Our Big Goofy Boy Looking For His Forever Home This handsome lad has just turned one years old and is searching for a home that can give him the time, structure and love he deserves. Simba has recently been for an X-ray which unfortunately showed he has mild hip dysplasia. This will be managed with pain medication for the rest of his life, although as it is only mild he will only need medication when required. It won’t stop him enjoying life, but his new owners will need to be mindful of his exercise. He will need slight exercise modifications, including avoiding ball games, high-impact activities, and excessive twisting motions. He is an extremely affectionate, people loving dog who absolutely thrives on attention. He’s a big softie at heart who loves fuss, cuddles and spending time with his humans. He also loves his toys and playtime, and like many young dogs he can be a bit of a big doofus at times! He is very food motivated and learns quickly, which makes him a great candidate for ongoing training. With the right guidance and consistency, we truly believe he will grow into a fantastic and well mannered companion. He is crate trained and settles well with routine. As a young, strong dog he can be very powerful on the lead, so he will need an owner who is confident handling larger breeds and willing to continue working on his training. He likes other dogs, however he hasn’t quite learned the right way to interact yet and can sometimes be a little too enthusiastic with his play style. Because of this, previous homes with other dogs have not worked out. Ideally he would be the only pet, although the right dog match may be considered with careful introductions. The home he needs: • Adult only home (no young children) • Ideally the only dog (no cats or other animals) • Someone experienced with large/strong breeds • Owners who have the time and patience to continue his training • Not suitable for states or GHA accommodation due to breed restrictions He has unfortunately had a few homes that haven’t worked out, so we will be very careful about where he goes next. We want his next home to be his forever home. Underneath his size and goofiness is a big, loving softie who just needs the right person to guide him and help him become the brilliant dog we know he can be. If you think you could offer this big boy the home he deserves, please get in touch by emailing

About Simba is looking for an experienced home! :)

What life with Simba is looking for an experienced home! :) looks like

Simba is looking for an experienced home! :) is a large adult dog waiting at GSPCA Guernsey in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba is looking for an experienced home! :), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba is looking for an experienced home! :)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSPCA Guernsey handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba is looking for an experienced home! :) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba is looking for an experienced home! :) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSPCA Guernsey will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba is looking for an experienced home! :) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba is looking for an experienced home! :) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSPCA Guernsey early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba is looking for an experienced home! :) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
