Simba

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Young · 1 year

Simba is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures and provide him with physically and mentally stimulating enrichment to keep his busy brain occupied. He is a sweet and playful boy who can live with secondary school children who are confident around playful and clumsy dogs, who will play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when needed. Simba could live with another playful dog pending successful meets at the centre, although living with another dog is not a necessity, he would be happy with friendly and playful walking buddies. Simba is a young but clever boy who could engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer. Simba can settle in the home alone with the help of some enrichment to keep him busy and after a walk to tucker him out, so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time will need to be built up gradually once he has had time to settle in. Simba will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Little ball of fun Simba is a 1 and a half year old Staffy who is as goofy as he is handsome. He adores toys, his favourite being any type of ball he can get his paws on, he will chase and bound around after them, sometimes catching them, but missing most of the time. He loves a good cuddle with his favourite people, most especially liking a good scratch behind the ears, he likes to put his paws on your leg to let you know he wants more. This top lad is ready to find his new home.

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
