Simba und Brownie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 9 years

Simba and Brownie are a sweet cat couple who love each other, as well as humans. Because people should not separate what a higher power has brought together, we are looking for a new home for the two of them. The approximately two-year-old, unspayed cats came to us with their offspring. It quickly became clear that the brown-tiger-striped British Shorthair girl Brownie was already pregnant again. As playful and childish as the young animals sometimes appear, they were excellent parents who raised their offspring with a lot of patience and nerve strength. Now the cat children have all moved to separate homes, so it's time for Simba and Brownie to pack their bags too. When it comes to describing them, we can only sing praises: Brownie and Simba are loving, affectionate, cuddly and always friendly. They often lie together in their basket and groom each other's fur. Since they also love playing with each other and their humans, we think they would be well cared for in a household with considerate children - provided that the human offspring understands that you can play great with cats, but they are not toys, but living beings who need respect and freedom. Brownie and Simba are very gentle animals, so they would also be very well suited to older, quieter people. This applies especially to the red-tiger-striped Simba, who suffers from the notorious genetic defect as a Scottish Fold cat, which not only cripples his ears (which some people find so beautiful that they pay a lot of money for the "breed"), but also affects the ligaments and cartilage tissue in the rest of the body. Simba's feet are already crooked today and he walks a bit "uneven", this is (not yet) treatable. If problems arise later due to his illness, our association will support the new owners with veterinary costs. Already today, jumps from great heights should be avoided for Simba - for example by making sure that higher scratching trees have intermediate floors that he can reach without effort. We would also like to advise the future owners of the charming cat couple on this. Further information: 0157-52687661

Weitere Informationen: 0157 – 52 68 76 61.

About Simba und Brownie

What life with Simba und Brownie looks like

Simba und Brownie is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba und Brownie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba und Brownie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba und Brownie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba und Brownie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba und Brownie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba und Brownie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba und Brownie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
