Sir Diesel

Scottish Fold · Male · Young · 3 years

Our little Dieselchen (affectionately named Darth Vader) quickly wins every heart. Although he is characteristically sweet, his physical tortoise-shell features are hard to miss. As a typical Scottish Fold, he primarily experiences pain in his front leg joints, which is why he takes pain medication daily, something he tolerates well. Unfortunately, he did not lose his nose, and his nostrils are so small that not even a swab could be inserted. Since no antibiotics seemed to work properly, it became clear that he would likely always have a bit of chronic sniffles. Through moving into a larger room with an outdoor area and more attention, he is actually doing better, though he can still be heard snoring from time to time. Although Sir Diesel is a very friendly tomcat and has no problem with dogs, cats, or children, we are looking for a quiet home for him. More chaos or changes mean more stress and worse breathing for him. Even though he is characteristically an absolute beginner cat, we are looking for an experienced home for him, preferably someone who is familiar with Scottish Folds or the sniffles issue, though this is not a must.

DE·Show original

About Sir Diesel

What life with Sir Diesel looks like

Sir Diesel is a small young adult scottish fold cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Reutlingen in Reutlingen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sir Diesel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sir Diesel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Reutlingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sir Diesel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sir Diesel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Reutlingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sir Diesel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sir Diesel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Reutlingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sir Diesel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
