Sir Henry

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Sir Henry is a gentle, sensitive tomcat who takes some time to trust people. Once he gets to know someone, he shows his soft side. He especially loves good food - Sir Henry is a little gourmet and enjoys every treat. He also loves playing with his feline friends, with whom he gets along very well. His past has shaped him. Sir Henry lived as a young tomcat with other cats on the street. When he was about eight months old, the group was attacked by a pack of dogs. Sir Henry managed to escape unharmed, but one of the kittens he lived with did not survive the attack. Since that day, he has been very afraid of dogs. On the day of the incident, he was taken in by a foster home, where he has been living safely ever since. Sir Henry is still a bit cautious around people. Sometimes he enjoys petting, but if you want to pick him up, he runs away. He is by no means aggressive - he just lacks complete trust. Since he currently has only a few hours of direct human contact a day, we are convinced that he will open up much more in a quiet home with patient people. Experience with shy cats would be an advantage for him. Sir Henry gets along very well with other cats and loves to play with them. Due to his experiences, he is not compatible with dogs. Outdoor access is not an option for him. However, he would certainly enjoy a secure balcony to enjoy the sun and observe his surroundings. Sir Henry has been tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and de-fleaed and of course brings his EU pet passport with him. After a positive preliminary check and for a deposit, Sir Henry can move into his new home. Whoever gives Sir Henry the time he needs will be rewarded with a loving, playful and loyal companion who gradually learns that people can also mean safety, security and love. A heartfelt thank you to Drea N., the godmother who gave Sir Henry his name and made an important contribution to his

About Sir Henry

What life with Sir Henry looks like

Sir Henry is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sir Henry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sir Henry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sir Henry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sir Henry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sir Henry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sir Henry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sir Henry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
