Adopt Siriy (Сірий)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 13 years

Our Fund was contacted by volunteers from Zaporizhzhia city asking for help in treating a local stray dog named Gray, who had injured his hind legs. The animal lived on the factory premises, where it was fed by volunteers. Since Gray was shy and wouldn't come to people, volunteers spent a lot of time catching him. On January 18, 2022, Gray was taken to the veterinary clinic, where a vet examined him. In addition to the injured leg, a pus-filled wound near the ear was also found. Because the leg injury was old (more than two weeks), tissue necrosis developed all the way to the bone, so the vet recommends amputation of the leg to save Gray's life. The operation is urgently needed to avoid blood infection, which could lead to the animal's death. During the operation, they will also perform sanitation (cleaning) of the wound near the ear, as this is a painful procedure, and the wound is infected and quite large. The cost of treatment is 7 thousand hryvnias! Let's together help save another life! P.S. The dog turned out to be quite reasonable and friendly with people; he will gladly go to a new family after the clinic! February 2, 2022. Enough funds were collected for Gray's treatment; he is still staying in the clinic until the wounds heal completely and the stitches are removed. Thank you to all donors for your help!

About Siriy (Сірий)

What life with Siriy (Сірий) looks like

Siriy (Сірий) is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Siriy (Сірий), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Siriy (Сірий)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Siriy (Сірий) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Siriy (Сірий) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Siriy (Сірий) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Siriy (Сірий) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Siriy (Сірий) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
