Adopt Sirius

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

My name is Sirius and despite being a young pup, I've had quite a difficult life. My early years were spent with a owner who didn't relate me to humans or other animals, fearing "I might catch something from them." Unfortunately, this and their inability to harness my capabilities "broke" me. Thanks to fate, I came to our shelter, where with much effort, I'm improving day by day. It's hard for me to gain trust, but once I have it, I'm a very loyal and affectionate dog. I know adopting me is difficult, as it entails "a lot of work" (regular visits to the animal shelter to help me get used to it and gain confidence, working with me every day...). I know I'm a difficult case, but not impossible, and I know that little by little I can improve and that I'm worth it for my loyalty and the way I want to be loved. I am 4 years old, a mix of Pitbull and Border Collie, and I need PPP license.

About Sirius

What life with Sirius looks like

Sirius is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rescue Galicia in Vigo.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sirius, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sirius?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rescue Galicia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sirius on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sirius if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rescue Galicia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sirius already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sirius isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rescue Galicia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sirius and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
