Sisko

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Sisko is the brother of Maguna and already shows that siblings can be very different despite coming from the same background. While his sister was initially unsettled by her separation from her mother, Sisko is described as open and quickly trusting of humans. He didn't take long to warm up, quickly started playing and showed his cheerful, puppy-typical side. He gets along well with other dogs. Sisko's story begins at a recycling center on the outskirts of Cluj, on the grounds of a former landfill. That's where his mother was discovered. Her body clearly showed that she had had puppies somewhere. The animal welfare workers asked the employees about the little ones and came back later when the babies were old enough to be separated from their mother. The little female dog had four puppies in total. Two of them were adopted by recycling center employees, Sisko and his sister Maguna came into the care of the animal welfare organization. Their mother is not left behind either: her castration was organized and then she will be taken over by one of the employees. This way, the whole little family gets the chance to have a home of their own. Sisko is still a real puppy. The fact that he already openly approaches people and quickly found himself playing is a good prerequisite - but he still doesn't know what life is like as a family dog. Housebreaking, harness and leash, car travel, household noises, visitors, road traffic, keeping quiet and later also staying alone for a short time must still be learned. This should happen in small steps, kindly and with a lot of patience. Just as important as new experiences are sufficient sleep and rest phases at this age. Puberty will also turn the unassuming puppy into a young dog that may suddenly question the rules again. What has been learned can temporarily seem to be forgotten, concentration can fluctuate and smells, dogs or other things in the environment can be much more exciting than his people. This is not a matter of intention and no reason for harshness, but it belongs to the development. Loving consistency, clear structures and a positively working dog school help to accompany Sisko safely through this phase. Even in Sisko, it is not possible to reliably say which breeds are in him based on his appearance. His strong paws and body could indicate a share of a livestock guardian dog. However, his mother is explicitly described as small. How big Sisko will be once cannot be predicted with certainty in a mixed breed with an unknown father. That's why we currently estimate him to be probably medium-sized. However, what should really matter is not a certain number of centimeters, but that his family also wants the adult dog that once comes from this cute puppy. Sisko is chipped, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-free. He is ready to travel from mid-October and travels with an EU pet passport. He will be placed after a positive pre-control, with a protection contract and for a deposit. Sisko would also be happy about a suitable foster home. Many thanks to his namesake Silke P., who gave Sisko his name. Status: 18.09.2026 Further information on the topic of pre-control and deposit

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 27.09.2026

About Sisko

What life with Sisko looks like

Sisko is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sisko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sisko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sisko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sisko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sisko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sisko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sisko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
