Sita

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Sita – searching for people who will give her security. Sita has already traveled from Bulgaria to Germany and is currently living in a foster home. She is now a young puppy. Typically, young puppies are full of curiosity, exploring the world and gathering experiences. But for Sita, the world often feels still large and intimidating. Her foster family describes her as a very sensitive female dog with a great need for security. She quickly bonds with her primary caregiver, seeking a lot of closeness and showing herself to be incredibly clingy and cuddly. Once she has trust, she wants to be very close to her people. At the same time, Sita brings many, often strong, insecurities. Outside, many things still prove difficult for her. Already, being on a leash causes her significant stress. New situations, walks, and the world outside her familiar environment often overwhelm her so much that she freezes or wants to retreat. She also currently approaches men with caution and fear. It is very clear when dealing with Sita: here is a young puppy who likely missed out on important experiences and security in her previous life. It seems like she has never truly gotten to know much – and is now trying to navigate a world that often still seems incomprehensible to her. With other dogs, Sita is generally compatible. She currently lives with several other dogs and gets along especially well with a puppy. She can also be a happy single dog. In the house, Sita is reliably house-trained. At the same time, she currently displays behaviors often seen in young, stressed, or insecure dogs: she gnaws on things, finds it hard to settle down, and reacts to being spoken to or to boundaries in the moment. This may appear somewhat cheeky at first, but often behind it lies insecurity, being overwhelmed, or a lack of orientation. For Sita, we are looking for people with dog experience, time, and patience. People who are willing to introduce her to the world in small steps without pressure. People who understand that trust cannot be demanded but must grow. For behind all her insecurity lies a young female dog who longs for closeness and desperately needs someone to show her that she no longer has to do everything alone. Here’s more about Sita’s videos:. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Sita

What life with Sita looks like

Sita is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
