Sjimmie

Dachshund · Male · Adult · 4 years

Sjimmie is a young, rough-haired dachshund male, born on August 22, 2022. A small boy with a lovely character, a strong will and a sensitive heart. After the death of his original owner, Sjimmie ended up with the family's children. Eventually, there was not enough time and knowledge to give him the guidance he needed. Several attempts were made to rehome him, but this also did not give him the stability he needed. And that stability is important for Sjimmie. He has been building up more and more tension around things that are important to him. When he considers something to be his own, he finds it difficult to let go. For example, a bone, a toy, a sock or even a toilet roll. In the past, he has bitten in such situations a few times. This is natural behavior that we take seriously. At the same time, it tells us above all that Sjimmie has built up so much tension around the object in question that he tried to take care of it himself. We also see that he is not yet able to process everything easily outside. He can react to other dogs and traffic, with trucks and tractors triggering him in particular. These are exactly the situations we are working on with him now. And there is something important in return: Sjimmie walks extremely well on a leash. He is a nice, smart and funny dog that doesn't have to be difficult all the time. When there is no exciting stimulus or conflict around an important object, he is just a lovely little boy to be with. We teach him that he doesn't have to guard what is his and not decide what should happen with everything around him. His people can take over that responsibility. Calmly, clearly and consistently. This does not mean that you have to correct him constantly. On the contrary. The more we can let him experience that the people around him are taking care of the situation, the less reason he has to do it himself. That's why we are not looking for a household where Sjimmie gets a lot of freedom to figure everything out for himself. He benefits from a quiet household where people take the time to give him clarity and structure. Whoever gets to know Sjimmie will soon discover that behind that little dachshund head is a dog with a lot of character. He is smart, funny, alert and loyal. And above all: he does not have to learn that he is less of a dog. He may just learn that he does not have to arrange everything himself. Important characteristics of Sjimmie are: Energy level: Average Intelligence: Average Self-confidence: Average Self-awareness: Average Persistence: Average It is important that you score higher than or equal to the dog you want to adopt in the characteristics, to ensure that a suitable match can be made. NL·Show original

About Sjimmie

What life with Sjimmie looks like

Sjimmie is a small adult dachshund dog waiting at Stichting Animals Faith in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sjimmie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sjimmie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Animals Faith handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sjimmie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sjimmie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Animals Faith will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sjimmie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sjimmie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Animals Faith early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sjimmie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
