Sky

Poodle · Female · Adult · 5 years

14-08-26 Sky is a very scared little lady who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She can be skittish and quite shut down at the moment so she will need a calm home. Sky prefers to hide at the back of her kennel and finds handling very frightening. She trembles when she is being handled and can't wait to be safely back on the floor, where she will quickly run back to her bed. We know she doesn't understand yet that we are here to help her, so she will need lots of time and patience to learn that she is safe. Sky will need another kind and confident dog in the home, and this dog will be a much-needed support system for her. Having a friendly dog by her side should help her feel more secure and give her someone to follow as she begins to discover the world outside the kennel. As Sky has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training, and the other basics of home life. Her adopters will need to be very patient and allow her to take everything at her own pace. We are looking for a quiet, patient home for Sky so that she can relax and settle into her new surroundings without too much hustle and bustle. She will need adopters who understand scared ex-breeding dogs and who are prepared to give her the time she needs without putting any pressure on her. She can live with older, dog-savvy teens, aged 13+ who are sensible and will allow her time to settle in at her own pace. Sky has arrived very underweight and with mastitis. She is healing well so far, but will need a nutritious diet to help her reach and maintain a healthy weight going forward. This will need to be continued in her new home, and her adopters will need to keep an eye on her progress. Sky has a long way to go, but underneath all that fear is a little dog who deserves the chance to feel safe and loved. With the right home, a kind canine companion and lots of patience, we hope she will slowly begin to blossom and discover how wonderful life can be. She has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Sky

What life with Sky looks like

Sky is a adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
