Slinky

Podenco · Male · Young · 2 years

Slinky arrived to us after being found tied up in the sun, without water or shade at an empty festival ground of Marbella. When he first arrived, he was so quiet and kept to himself, but very quickly when he met other dogs and saw that they are all cheerful here and trust the humans, then he quickly came out of his shell and started to show what a fun guy he is! Slinky has a big head and small but long body, with short legs - he is a beautiful boy, at the same time he looks like a puzzle that fits together, but somehow at the wrong angle! Slinky loves to be petted on that big head of his, and when he loves you, then he will always come to you when you are sitting down, and put his paws on your lap, to get closer to you. Slinky is very nice and social with other dogs, and can very quickly integrate into a group of dogs, or go walking with a new friend. Now in the shelter he is living with a female named Rhesi, because Rhesi's friend was adopted, and before he was in a group of 3 female Podencos as well. Slinky for sure is not coming from the streets, with his junky body and clean fur, but he has no microchip and noone has come looking for him, so he is now waiting and hoping for a forever home. He walks very well on the leash and is an easygoing dog in general - only thing to keep in mind is that he can be pushy when he wants to be near you and demands your love and attention, so being a young boy, he still needs to learn some boundaries and limitations. Slinky could very easily be a single dog of a home, but he could also join the family's existing dogs. With his cool character and calm confidence, we believe he could also live in a town environment, and join his human to daily doings, like cafeterias, shopping etc. He is not nervous, afraid or anxious. Slinky is nice with all humans he meets and also often goes out walking with families with children. With his tiny legs, his shoulder height is just 40cm.

About Slinky

What life with Slinky looks like

Slinky is a small young adult podenco dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Slinky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Slinky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Slinky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Slinky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Slinky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Slinky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Slinky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
