Słomka

Female · Adult · 5 years

Słomka is a tiny, cute terrier with distinct terrier roots :) She is energetic and cheerful, and also very brave in interactions with dogs. She functions well in a group of dogs, easily makes contacts and definitely feels better when there is at least one member of the same species nearby. She is a bit reserved and unsure around people, but she starts to thaw by observing the behavior of other dogs who are open towards us. We are counting on the same effect during walks, because Słomka is just learning to walk on a leash - it's a new skill for her, as well as walking beside a person. Therefore, for now, Słomce is looking for a home with access to a garden, where she can safely practice walking on a leash. She should also have a permanent dog friend - a guide from whom she can take examples and who will support her in difficult moments. If your dog needs a cheerful companion for adventures in the garden, if no one is available to impress on the neighborhood - please get in touch with us! Słomka is waiting!

PL·Show original

Powinna mieć też na stałe psiego kumpla - takiego przewodnika, z którego będzie mogła brać wzór i w którym będzie miała wsparcie w trudniejszych chwilach. Jeśli Twój pies potrzebuje wesołej towarzyszki do harców w ogrodzie, jeśli nie ma komu zaimponować na osiedlu - koniecznie odezwijcie się do nas! Słomka czeka! About Słomka

What life with Słomka looks like

Słomka is a small adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs another dog companion, requires garden access, still learning leash walking

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Słomka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Słomka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Słomka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Słomka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Słomka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Słomka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Słomka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
