Adopt Snacks

Belgian Malinois · Male · Senior · 11 years

I am Snacks, a clever, athletic Malinois-Mix with a big heart and even bigger potential on the lookout for an experienced home. I can do a lot of commands: sit, stay, come, paw, and more. Praise and cuddles are my turbo, and I very much enjoy a few minutes of intense brushing. I love water – after a bath, I like to be towel-dried (if need be, the grass will do). Due to my hip dysplasia, I need regular breaks, otherwise, I overexert myself. I am sensitive and naturally cautious. With calm, clear guidance, I remain composed in new situations and walk calmly. Important: No ball or push games – in high excitement, I used to be unable to distinguish between play and seriousness and bit. Nowadays, I can walk in a dog group, even with male dogs. I don’t put much stock in other dogs, but I could envision living with a laid-back female dog. I know how to ride in a car, can stay alone for hours, and am accustomed to cars, joggers, and cyclists. However, I am not suitable for a dense city center. I wish for dog-experienced people who can give me security, be friendly and consistent, and set clear, understandable rules. An ideal home for me would be a house with an enclosed yard or a cottage on the outskirts. Children should not live in the household, and because of my HD, I should not climb stairs. In the animal shelter practice, I will be treated for my hips for life. Would you like to meet me? Then feel free to contact me at the Benji-House at 030 76 888-212 or via the contact form below. I look forward to your message!

About Snacks

What life with Snacks looks like

Snacks is a large senior belgian malinois dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Hip dysplasia requiring regular breaks, lifelong veterinary treatment included, no stairs, no high-excitement games

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snacks, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snacks?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snacks on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snacks if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snacks already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snacks isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snacks and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
