Venom

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 2 years

Venom is a 2-year-old Doberman × Malinois mix who has been deeply neglected. He lived with another dog in an apartment, left to their own devices, without walks, attention, or even basic care. The floor was covered in feces, and their physical state testified to the long days they spent locked up. Emaciated and dehydrated, Venom lacked everything until he was finally taken in and sheltered. Since arriving at the shelter, Venom has finally discovered everything he had previously been deprived of. He is learning to enjoy walks, which he loves, and seems particularly happy to be able to discover the world outside. He has also discovered the comfort of the shelter, which he greatly appreciates! My character: Caresses, belly rubs, and time spent with humans are now among his favorite little pleasures. Venom is extremely close to humans. He seeks contact, greatly appreciates attention, and seems to have a real desire to create a bond with the people who care for him. Despite his past, he retains a beautiful ability to trust and fully enjoy the moments of tenderness offered to him. On the side of agreements, Venom gets along very well with other dogs. The presence of another dog in his future home would even be a real plus for him, so that he can continue to evolve and flourish with a companion. On the other hand, he has not yet been tested with cats. A family with children could be considered for Venom. However, his past, his need for stability, and his large size will need to be taken into account so that cohabitation can take place in good conditions and with respect for each other. I like / I don't like: An important point will also need to be taken into account regarding walks in the garden. Venom is extremely close to humans and, if he finds himself alone outside, he will try to join us and may try to climb the fence to follow us. It will therefore be imperative to provide a sufficiently secure and secure outdoor space and not to leave Venom unattended in the garden. A house with a garden is therefore entirely feasible, provided that a sufficiently high and secure fence is available and that Venom is supervised when he is outside. But the absence of a garden is absolutely not a problem: a life in an apartment can perfectly suit him, provided that he is offered the walks and expenses he needs.

About Venom

What life with Venom looks like

Venom is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at APAA Trégrom in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Venom, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Venom?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. APAA Trégrom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Venom on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Venom if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — APAA Trégrom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Venom already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Venom isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with APAA Trégrom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Venom and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
