Snippy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Snippy aka Snippet was found at the shopping centre La Canada Parking, without a microchip. He arrived to us confused, scared and stressed, but not in a bad condition per se, so he must be coming from some sort of a household. Well, noone ever came looking for this wonderful Snippet, so he got a new name, for being so small and compact. In the shelter, Snippy lives in a group of females, as he loves to be around the ladies, and even though he is open and social also with males, then for living together in this stressy shelter environment, he seems to relax more around females. Snippy does not like to be alone, it makes him sad and bark from loneliness, so for his new home we are looking for a family, who will spend most of their time together with their dog - which is easy because Snippy is small and you can take him everywhere, or a home that already has another dog waiting, so Snippy could be together with his dog friend while humans are away. Snippet has already been out for a day with a volunteer, and when as he leaves the shelter, he also leaves the stress behind. When visiting the volunteers home, he explores the house and garden in a very polite way, and then enjoyed rolling on the grass in the garden. During a stroll on the promenade, he walked so nicely on the leash, he does not pull or criss-cross around the street, just politely walking by your side. The main working point with Snippet at the moment, outside of the shelter, seems to be excitedness for other dogs, it seems that he has not been posivitely socialized with other dogs in a more busy environment like a cafeteria because he started barking and pulling and people might think that he is being aggressive, but from what we know about him already, he then gets extremely excited to go say hello to the dog, and then becomes calm again or invites the other dog to play and run together. His overwhelming enthusiasm can be misinterpreted by other dogs or humans in that moment so definitely something to work on. For that reason, Snippet is looking either for a home that is located in a calm environment, without too busy lifestyle, or a home that is willing to spend some time in the beginning offering him positive encounters with other dogs, so he relaxes and knows he does not need to bark when seeing other dogs, that he will have the chance to peacefully meet them also without barking. Ideally, his new home would be combination of both - calm & supportive. When you guide Snippet, and let him know what kind of behaviours are appreciated, and which not, he quickly listens and adapt, he respects humans, and loves to sit on your lap when offered! When he can be in close contact with humans, he is very happy and relaxed. He also takes treats very nicely from your hand. Even though Snippet is excellent with children, then for his future home, we are looking for a setting without small children, simply due to the energy levels at home. Once away from a stressy enviornment, he travels very well in the car. The sea is not his favourite, big loud waves scare him a bit. Snippet is a smart and kind dog, also very alert of his environment and spots every detail around. During playtime, he loves to play with balls, and you can take the ball from his without problem. At the same time, he does get a bit obsessive about continuing to play ball, so we recommend offering him other types of activities instead of fetching ball, like a childrens pool with balls where he can search for treats, or searching carpets, filled Kong toys etc - not to play in a very high energy, that causes obsession/addiction. Snippet loves all humans he meets along the way, and he cannot wait to go home with his own human. His shoulder height is just 34cm.

About Snippy

What life with Snippy looks like

Snippy is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snippy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snippy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snippy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snippy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snippy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snippy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snippy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
