Snorre

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Snorre – an active, self-confident male dog seeking experienced people. Snorre was rescued from the Cornetu kill shelter and has now been living for a longer period in a foster home in Romania. There he shows himself to be a friendly, energetic and very people-oriented dog. Snorre is especially affectionate and attached toward familiar people. He enjoys contact, actively seeks closeness and often greets his caregivers with great enthusiasm. At the same time, Snorre is easy to communicate with, cooperative and listens to his trusted people. Toward strangers, Snorre is usually curious and open; with individual people he initially appears more skeptical. Currently Snorre lives together with several other dogs without any problems. In everyday life he is social, playful and enjoys interacting with other dogs. He can also communicate appropriately when conflicts arise. Snorre already walks well on the leash and perceives environmental stimuli attentively, but he does not react with strong insecurity or overwhelm. Putting on a collar and harness is no problem. Grooming measures such as brushing or trimming the hair on his face, however, he likes less. In those situations he becomes restless and tries to get away, but he shows no aggression whatsoever. Since his coat requires increased grooming, we are looking for people who are willing to continue working with him patiently on this. Snorre is an active dog who is looking for people who enjoy providing a meaningful outlet for an intelligent and eager-to-move dog. At the same time, a good balance between activity and rest should of course always be maintained. For Snorre we are seeking an experienced home with people who provide clear structure and are willing to keep working with him together. We are confident that with the right guidance, Snorre can become a wonderful companion. After a positive pre-adoption check, Snorre may move to his new home for a protection fee of 495 euros, with an EU pet passport, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and dewormed.

About Snorre

What life with Snorre looks like

Snorre is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snorre, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snorre?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snorre on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snorre if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Snorre already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snorre isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snorre and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
