Snowy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Snowy is a sweet 3-year-old Crossbreed who has so much potential to blossom in the right home. She may be nervous when people are around, but when she has some quiet time to herself her playful side starts to appear. She has even been spotted on camera pouncing on her toys and throwing them into the air to catch them! She enjoys comfy beds, quiet time and the company of other dogs, and she has already started showing that with time and patience she can begin to relax and engage more with the world around her. Snowy isn’t looking for anyone to rush her - she just needs someone kind and consistent who will celebrate the little wins and help her discover how lovely life can be. Snowy is looking for a calm, patient home with adopters who are happy to let her take things at her own pace. She can find new people, noises and unfamiliar environments overwhelming, so she’ll need plenty of time, space and gentle encouragement while she builds her confidence. A quiet, adult-only home would suit her best, along with a private garden where she can explore in a safe and familiar environment. Snowy will also need to live with another calm, confident dog who can help show her the ropes and give her some reassurance as she settles in. Her new family should be happy to continue working with our team on her confidence, lead walking, handling and socialisation.

About Snowy

What life with Snowy looks like

Snowy is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Newbury in Newbury.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snowy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snowy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Newbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snowy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snowy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Newbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snowy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snowy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Newbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snowy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
