Socks

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Senior · 14 years

Hello my dears, I am the sweet little Socks. I came into branch care 3. 5 years ago, due to being abandoned after my owners’ circumstances changed. I am desperate to find a loving home, I have been here so long! I am a gentle, kind natured girl, who loves a fuss and tummy tickle. I can be a little nervous to begin with, so will need a family who can be patient with me allow me time to settle into my new surroundings. My delicate soul needs a quiet home, with no dogs or loud, young children, so that I can find my feet and gain confidence with my new owners. I would prefer to be the only cat in the household too, I have been solo so long, I deserve to have all of the attention! I love to snuggle up on my humans lap and watch the TV. I'm not exactly sure how old I am, but I'm of an age where you shouldn't ask a lady. I am on long-term hyperthyroid medication, so my new owners will need to be able to keep me medicated. I am also hard of hearing so need to be kept indoors or have supervised garden time! The vets have finally given me the all clear to find my forever home. As I am older and hyperthyroid I am just looking for somewhere to live out my remaining days, however long that may be. If you think you could offer me the home I deserve for my limited time left then, please fill out an enquiry form and bring my 3. 5 year long wait to an end!

About Socks

What life with Socks looks like

Socks is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Norwich in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Socks, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Socks?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Norwich handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Socks on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Socks if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Norwich will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Socks already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Socks isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Norwich early rather than rehoming privately; they know Socks and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
