Sol

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Sol is still alive in Crete. Her foster carer wrote to us: Sol is a sweet, cheerful and curious young cat with a very special history. The red beauty, born on 18.07.2025, was found as a tiny kitten, alone and seriously injured, at the side of a busy road. The examination revealed that her right hind leg was broken. Because Sol was still very young, surgery was initially avoided and the fracture was allowed to heal on its own. Unfortunately, problems later developed in her knee and kneecap as a consequence of the accident. After numerous examinations and X-rays, Sol eventually had to undergo an extensive operation involving an osteotomy and a patella replacement. Sol bravely fought her way through all of it. Today she is once again a cheerful, playful and full-of-life young cat. She dashes around, plays, curiously explores her surroundings and loves the company of people. She enjoys cuddling, being stroked and even being picked up, yet she is a self-confident little lady with a mind of her own. Because of her history, Sol will probably remain somewhat less mobile and less physically resilient than a fully healthy cat. In everyday life this hardly limits her. However, due to her somewhat restricted mobility, unsupervised outdoor access is not an option for her. We are therefore looking for a home with a secured balcony or another safely enclosed outdoor area. Especially important: Sol does not want to live alone! She gets along very well with other cats and absolutely needs a suitable feline companion by her side. An ideal match would be a social, playful companion of similar age. For Sol, we are looking for people who are not searching for the perfect cat, but who can see what a wonderful, full-of-life and lovable girl she is. People who will give her a safe home despite her small limitation and the chance to enjoy her life to the fullest. Sol at a glance: - Born 18.07.2025 - female, neutered - microchipped - vaccinated - FIV/FeLV negative

DE·Show original

About Sol

What life with Sol looks like

Sol is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sol, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sol?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sol on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sol if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sol already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sol isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sol and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
