Adopt Solo

Mixed Breed · Male

Solo is a social and food-loving cat who desires a safe home with adults or a family with older children. He thrives best when he can be close to the people in his own space. He wants a home where he can be outdoors. I am a laid-back boy who values safety, people, and good resting spots. When I was found outside, I was in poor condition and very tired, but after good care in the foster home, I have become healthy, safe, and ready for my forever home. I like to follow along with what’s happening. You often find me in sunbeams on the floor, on the kitchen counter with a blanket, or in the middle of the floor where I have full view. I don’t mind climbing or the litter box much, but a soft place to rest and a quiet corner to retreat to, is right in the sunbeam. Grooming is cozy, and I am easy to pet. I let you lift and carry me, but I decide when I want to wrestle further. I let you take me for potty breaks, enjoy being brushed, and tolerate a little stomach food in small amounts. At night, I like to sleep in the bed with the people I live with, often by the feet on a separate blanket. When it comes to play, I am a bit selective. Some hunting games really catch my attention, especially if they move behind a blanket or a chair. I do not use the litter box or bite people, but I gently protest if my boundaries are crossed.

About Solo

What life with Solo looks like

Solo is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Solo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Solo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Solo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Solo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Solo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Solo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Solo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
