Somajia (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Name Somajia Born around April 2023 Gender female dog Breed mixed breed Size rather small, likely a Dachshund mix (as of August 2023: 25-30cm) foster home Somajia our little rocket has found her people. We are very happy and hope that a good team will form. Often, the ages given here are estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Somajia joined our family just over a week ago. We are two adult humans and our two male dogs, aged four and eight. A thin and sickly mouse came from the Romanian transport box, explored the new environment curiously, and was already looking for body contact after a yummy meal. She is fed three times a day because she has a healthy appetite and will surely gain some weight soon. Her cold has improved, and since the end of last week, Somajia has been able to accompany "our boys" on their walks. The clever mouse quickly figured out how to walk with the two male dogs, and she is eager to sniff and explore. Of course, she will sometimes bark at a friendly fellow animal but then prefers to get closer. On the walk, everything is so interesting, and I notice daily that the little one really has a lot of energy. Back home, there’s a yummy meal and then a cozy nap in the snuggle basket. With our male dogs Geri and Pyp, "Majia" gets along well, and the trio often lies together comfortably. Somajia has a lot of respect for our open stairs in the house and still doesn't dare to climb them. So, I carry her up to bed at night and down in the morning, because for Somajia, it’s important to be with the family at night. We are currently training her for indoor potty training, and she’s doing well at 70%, I find that in such a short time at our home, she’s already doing a great job. Thumbs up! During the car ride, she was either seated or buckled up in the back seat, and she didn’t feel sick. She has not yet had direct contact with cats or small children. At the kindergarten, she stood interestedly and looked curiously through the fence. She shows no fear or timidity and is not a particularly fearful female dog. On the contrary, when the doorbell rings, she barks along with Geri and Pyp to check what’s going on outside. Majia is a "Cleverle" and therefore also needs mental stimulation. She learns quickly and is a attentive young pup. In the right human hearts and hands, this raw diamond will become a jewel, because she has the potential to do so. We wish for the mouse, whom we affectionately call "Majia," people with heart and mind who will give her a loving and beautiful home and be faithful by her side. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. About Somajia (vermittelt)

What life with Somajia (vermittelt) looks like

Somajia (vermittelt) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Somajia (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Somajia (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Somajia (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Somajia (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Somajia (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Somajia (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Somajia (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
