Adopt Sonny

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Residence: Romania 💛 Sonny is still waiting for his people 📍 approximately 2 years old | friendly | initially cautious The little Sonny did not have an easy start in life. Together with his four siblings, he was cruelly abandoned at the tender age of only 1.5 months old, tossed into a bag and simply thrown away as if his life was worthless 💔🐾. Fortunately, the five were found in time and brought to safety. Since then, Sonny has been able to develop and has become a wonderful, lovable dog 🐶✨. With new people, Sonny is initially cautious and needs time to build trust. But once trust is gained, he shows his true nature: friendly, loyal, and a wonderful companion for life 💛🐾. Even at 2 years old, Sonny still needs to learn basic obedience – house training, leash walking, and all the things that belong to a shared daily routine. With patience, love, and understanding, he will surely master these tasks 🥰. Two of his siblings have already found their homes – now Sonny hopes for his big happiness too 🍀🏡. Sonny is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, neutered, and has a veterinary check-up – he is in possession of a Eu-Animal Passport. All our dogs travel with official trace papers and Paragraph 11 approval to Germany. Our dogs are additionally tested for Mediterranean diseases via a rapid test. The adoption fee is 500€ plus 30€ for the purchase of safety gear. Note: When we assign our dogs to certain breeds, we base our decision solely on their outward appearance and observable behavior (phenotype). This assignment is made with the best of intentions and knowledge of the club and the involved veterinarians. However, these descriptions do not necessarily correspond to the actual genetic makeup (genotype), as their reliable determination would only be possible through DNA analysis. Furthermore, the behavioral and character description of each animal is based on careful observations by the animal welfare workers on site or by the respective foster facilities. It should be noted that these assessments are based solely on the current local conditions in the intake centers or foster facilities.

About Sonny

What life with Sonny looks like

Sonny is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Rescued Souls e.V. in Pfinztal.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sonny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sonny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rescued Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sonny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sonny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rescued Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sonny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sonny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rescued Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sonny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
