Het verhaal van Sotiris (Zorro): Zakynthos is een prachtig eiland, dat veel toeristen uit heel Europa trekt. Met het dierenwelzijn is het echter niet zo goed gesteld. Er worden veel honden gedumpt. Sotiris – wij noemen hem Zorro vanwege zijn prachtige Zorro masker – liep een aantal dagen op de hoofdweg van het badplaatsje Kalamaki. Hij was op zoek naar aandacht en liep achter de auto's aan. Vol vertrouwen en niet erg verkeerswijs. Een vrijwilliger van Zakynthos Animal Welfare Fund (ZAWF) heeft hem een tijdje gevoerd maar het werd te gevaarlijk. Toen ze hem ging ophalen en haar autodeur opende, sprong hij direct de auto in. Het leek wel of hij voelde dat hij was gered. Zij heeft hem een aantal maanden verzorgd. Nu is Zorro sinds 2 weken in Nederland, in een gastgezin in Spijkenisse. En wat een leuke hond is het! Zorro is geboren rond 15 juni 2025. Zorro maakt je blij. Als er mensen in het gastgezin op bezoek komen, worden zij direct vriendelijk en enthousiast begroet. Zorro is zo'n hond met een heel goedmoedig karakter, die ondanks zijn vervelende start op Zakynthos, hier geen last van lijkt te hebben. Hij is nog steeds vriendelijk en aanhankelijk naar mensen die hij ontmoet. Hij gaat goed om met de honden die ook bij het gastgezin in Spijkenisse leven. Dat was bij het gastgezin op Zakyntos ook zo. En als kers op de taart, is het ook nog eens een prachtige hond om te zien. Zorro is op zoek naar lieve mensen, die hem de tijd geven rustig te landen. Het is geen ingewikkelde hond maar hij komt natuurlijk wel uit een andere situatie. Op Zakynthos is het veel rustiger dan in Nederland en de honden leven veelal buiten. Zorro is nu nagenoeg nooit alleen thuis. Alleen laten zal opgebouwd moeten worden.
