Adopt Sparky

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

The two female cats Sparky and Flecky are each 13 years old, female, and neutered. Unfortunately, they had to leave their previous home because their owner had to go to the hospital – a big upheaval for these two seniors. Sparky is red-brown striped with white markings, while Flecky impresses with her black-and-white fur. Both have lived together with a total of four cats for many years and are thus very familiar with living with fellow animals. They can therefore be rehomed together, but can also move to suitable homes separately. Currently, the two are somewhat reserved in their foster home, which is completely understandable after the sudden change in their living conditions. With a bit of patience and peace, they will become more accessible day by day and show that they know and appreciate human contact. For Sparky and Flecky, we wish for a loving home where they will be given time to settle in at their own pace. Outdoor access would be lovely for both. Just write to us. As soon as we receive your message, we will contact you as quickly as possible. Please allow us one to two days for a response.

About Sparky

What life with Sparky looks like

Sparky is a large senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. in Germany.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sparky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sparky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sparky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sparky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sparky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sparky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sparky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
