Hi, I'm Speedy! And yes... my name isn't just a coincidence. If you ever see a streak of something that makes you think "was that a dog or the wind?" there's a good chance it was me. Running is really my specialty! I'm a greyhound, built to run, track and hunt. It's just in me - I can't help it, and to be honest... I love it. Running with the wind in my ears, my nose in pursuit, that's what I was made for. My previous owners didn't treat me badly, not at all. They took care of me and gave me a home. But I was also used for hunting, and that's not allowed. That's why I had to leave. It's a bit strange, because it's exactly what makes my heart race, but rules are rules, so I'm now looking for a new place. I'm not just looking for any house. I'm looking for people who really understand me. People who know that some things are just in me and can't be "trained out". My hunting instinct, for example - it stays. What can be done, is learning to deal with it. I also really need a challenge to be happy. Running after a ball? Delicious! Or playing together with a floss rope, I can really enjoy that. And to get rid of my energy, I think it would be great to practice running alongside the bike, being active with my owner, that's really my thing.

Hoi, ik ben Speedy! En ja… mijn naam heb ik niet zomaar gekregen. Als je ooit een soort streep voorbij ziet schieten waarvan je denkt “was dat een hond of de wind?” Grote kans dat ik het was rennen is echt mijn specialiteit! Ik ben een windhond, gebouwd om te rennen, te speuren en te jagen. Dat zit gewoon in mij – daar kan ik niks aan doen, en eerlijk gezegd… ik vind het ook heerlijk. Rennen met de wind langs mijn oren, mijn neus achterna, dat is waar ik voor gemaakt ben. Bij mijn vorige baasjes heb ik het niet slecht gehad, echt niet. Zij zorgden voor mij en gaven mij een thuis. Maar ik werd ook gebruikt voor de jacht, en dat mag niet. Daarom moest ik daar weg. Best gek eigenlijk, want het is precies waar mijn hart sneller van gaat kloppen, maar regels zijn regels, en dus ben ik nu op zoek naar een nieuw plekje. Ik zoek niet zomaar een huisje. Ik zoek mensen die mij écht begrijpen. Mensen die weten dat sommige dingen gewoon in mij zitten en er niet “uit te trainen” zijn. Mijn jachtinstinct bijvoorbeeld – dat blijft. Wat wél kan, is ermee leren omgaan. Ik heb ook echt uitdaging nodig om gelukkig te zijn. Lekker achter een balletje aan rennen? Heerlijk! Of samen spelen met een flostouw, daar kan ik ook enorm van genieten. En om mijn energie kwijt te kunnen lijkt het me superleuk om samen te oefenen met naast de fiets rennen lekker actief bezig zijn met mijn baasje, dat is echt mijn ding.
