Adopt Diva

Male · Young · 2 years

Who am I? I like to introduce myself! Diva (8) is my name. I have been living in the animal shelter since November 2024, but if you see me now, you won't recognize me anymore! I'm not only a beautiful lady, I'm also a real winner. I've already packed my suitcase for my biggest step yet: a real home of my own! Previously, I found the world around me extremely exciting. Because I didn't know what to do with that excitement, I didn't always make the right choices. But now you should see me! With my friends at the animal shelter, I've learned how to deal with the world properly. I've learned new skills and now know how to stay calm, even when things get a bit exciting. I've really become a different dog! What makes me happy? Oh, that's a good one! Once I trust you, I'm a friend from thousands and I'm generally up for anything. I love action: walking and running are fantastic. But I'm also great at games! From challenging treasure hunts to a sturdy game of tug-of-war; I fully commit. And the cherry on top? That's rolling around in the grass. Well, maybe at those moments I'm not much of a "Diva", but I find it wonderful! At those moments, my day is completely complete. What am I looking for in a new owner? I'm looking for someone who appreciates my growth and offers me the rest and stability I need. Basically, I'm looking for a real 'coach': someone who dares to take control, so I can relax and just be a good 'dog'. In return, you'll get a loyal friend who will wag her tail big every day by your side. I'm completely ready to leave the animal shelter behind and enjoy life with you. Come see how hard I've worked?

About Diva

What life with Diva looks like

Diva is a large young adult dog waiting at Dierentehuis Zoetermeer in Zoetermeer.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Diva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Diva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Zoetermeer handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Diva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Diva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Zoetermeer will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Diva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Diva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Zoetermeer early rather than rehoming privately; they know Diva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
