Spike (m)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

SPIKE was born in September 2025, is approximately 42 cm tall, and currently lives in the private animal shelter of the Ardor Association in Romania. Our German animal protection colleagues were just on site and personally got to know SPIKE – and what can we say? SPIKE is simply an absolute good mood dog. He is allowed to run with the free pack and enjoys life to the fullest. SPIKE is a real clown, constantly on the go, full of energy and joy. He runs, plays, and gets along wonderfully with all the dogs. But he is also totally people-oriented: He comes immediately for cuddles, loves attention, and is always ready for a treat. His background story, however, we unfortunately do not know. It is likely that SPIKE, like so many dogs there, was found as a puppy at some point. We did not ask about that further, because for his future, that no longer matters. SPIKE is looking for people who are up for an active dog – someone who likes to be on the go, has fun with movement, and wants to show a young dog the world. Naturally, SPIKE has not yet known life in a home. Things like leash, harness, everyday noises, or fixed routines are still foreign to him and need to be taught to him in peace. He will need time, patience, and loving upbringing to settle into his new life. But whoever is ready to give him this chance will get a happy, playful, and incredibly loving companion for life by your side. If interested, we are happy to make contact with the placement associations. SPIKE will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and will travel with a Snap test and EU passport. Contact: SPIKE will be rehomed by Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. – with The Association of course has the §11 (Animal Protection Act). Even after adoption, we will continue to support you – for both human and animal. SPIKE will travel with TRACES to Germany and will arrive in 91278 Pottenstein, where he is also to be picked up. There is a secured premises available.

About Spike (m)

What life with Spike (m) looks like

Spike (m) is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spike (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spike (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spike (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spike (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spike (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spike (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spike (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
