Spinek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Spinek for adoption - Location: Warsaw SPINEK - from hell to hope. He had severely twisted two hind legs. After a long treatment, he finally searches for his human... There are dogs that know the warmth of a home and the tenderness of a human from the beginning of their lives... and there are those like Spinek - who had to learn everything from scratch. Spinek was taken from a place that can hardly be called a home. Over a hundred dogs crowded in inhumane conditions, without a sense of security, without care, without a moment of peace. For a long time, he did not know what a peaceful sleep, a gentle touch, or the ordinary everyday life that many dogs take for granted is. Today, Spinek is about 5 years old and is a completely different dog - although his story still lives on in him. What is Spinek like? He is a charming white and black dog, resembling a sweet cow. He weighs about 10 kg and, despite difficult experiences, is able to enjoy life. He underwent two operations on his hind legs and long, intensive rehabilitation (almost every day for several months). The operations were necessary due to severe bilateral patellar dislocation (IV degree) and improper bone alignment in the hind leg, which caused limb deformities, pain, and made normal walking difficult. Thanks to the surgeries, it was possible to correct these defects and restore his mobility. He is now fit - he runs and copes well, although he puts more weight on one leg. Due to his body structure, he does not move perfectly, but it does not bother him in his daily functioning. Relationships with people He is friendly and increasingly open to his caregivers. He feels especially good in the company of women. He needs a moment to trust - but once he does, he shows his gentle and devoted side. Other animals Spinek currently lives among other animals and gets along well with dogs and a familiar cat. New animals can be difficult for him - initially he reacts with barking and tries to chase away the intruder. He needs time to adapt, but he can make friends. Daily functioning - he keeps the house clean (at first, marking the territory may happen), - he walks on a leash, - he is neutered. What kind of home are we looking for? We are looking for a patient, calm home for Spinek, which will give him time and space to further build trust. It is best if it is a home without a large rotation of animals or with caregivers ready to conduct a calm, thoughtful introduction. This is a dog that has gone through a lot - but he still has a huge potential to love and be loved. Maybe you will find his place forever? Maybe you will show him that the world can be good? If so, fill out the adoption form. His story deserves a happy ending. Spinek currently lives in a temporary home near Warsaw. Spinek do adopcji - Spinek Lokalizacja: Warszawa SPINEK – z piekła do nadziei. To uroczy, biało-czarny piesek, przypominający słodką krówkę. About Spinek

What life with Spinek looks like

Spinek is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Psa Karmela in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spinek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spinek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psa Karmela handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spinek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spinek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psa Karmela will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spinek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spinek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psa Karmela early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spinek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
