Meet SPINO Spino’s journey began with pain and fear. He was found in the main town of Naxos with a badly broken hind leg, most likely after being hit by a car. His injuries were so severe that he spent many long weeks confined to a small recovery crate while his body slowly healed. During this time Spino was terrified and too frightened to allow us to touch him. Despite every effort to save his leg, the veterinarians eventually made the difficult decision that it had to be amputated. But that wasn’t the end of Spino’s story—it was the beginning of a new one. Once he had recovered and was finally able to leave his crate and enjoy the freedom of the outdoor shelter, everything changed. In this new place emerged a gentle, friendly boy who discovered that human hands could offer comfort instead of fear. Today, Spino enjoys cuddles from our volunteers, lives happily alongside the other cats, and has adapted beautifully to life on three legs. He doesn’t let his disability slow him down and faces each day with quiet confidence.
