Sporcik

Male · Adult · 6 years

We would like to remind you about our foster dog Sporciu. Sporcik first came to the animal shelter about three years ago. Since then he had two unsuccessful adoptions. From both he returned after incidents of aggression. From the last one he returned in very poor emotional condition. Because of this, Sporcik is now under the care of behaviorists, on a behavioral care shift. His biggest problem is excessive control resulting from fear and reactivity. Therefore, Sporciu needed to be calmed down first. The caregivers are working on building his confidence in a rather large group of balanced dogs, with whom Sporcik lives and functions every day. He is gaining increasingly more social skills as well as learning healthy relationships with people. He has free contact with various people, including the little ones too :) He is learning normal life. And even though only a few weeks have passed, he is really doing well there. Sporcik is a dog that needs a caregiver who is gentle but at the same time firm, decisive and consistent. He needs a calm and very clear leadership. Without unnecessary hysteria, he will find it easier to adjust in a home outside the city. The overwhelming stimuli that the city offers will be too difficult for him. We invite you to meet Sporciu in person. For adoption we will provide behavioral support so that the new caregiver can start everything properly :)

Zapraszamy do poznania Sporcika osobiście.

About Sporcik

What life with Sporcik looks like

Sporcik is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires behavioral support and experienced handler due to fear-based reactivity and control issues. Needs calm, consistent training approach.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sporcik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sporcik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sporcik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sporcik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sporcik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sporcik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sporcik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
