Adopt Stanley

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

STANLEY - born on 09.09.2018, shoulder height 29 cm, 7.5 kg Stanley is a very nice guy who has really started to experience life since he has been at the animal shelter. The first few days were really tough for him, but we see progress every day! Gradually, he is becoming more attached and friendly. He has never been aggressive, but like almost all the dogs rescued here, he had no contact with people. It took some time for him to gain trust. Stanley is one of 15 dogs that were rescued from a desperate situation. His previous owner suffered from "Noah's Syndrome" - a mental disorder in which animals are pathologically accumulated in a household. The animals were originally taken in from the streets with good intentions, but the number of animals grew too fast to provide proper care for them all. In his previous home, the dogs did not go for walks, they did not know a leash, and they initially did not let people touch them. Only after the owner's death did the neighbors become aware of the difficult situation. Currently, Stanley is still in the socialization and adaptation phase of a new life. We hope he will soon find a new home where his personality can flourish and where he receives the attention and love he deserves. Stanley is one of the older male dogs at the animal shelter who does not fully trust people yet. His curious look shows that behind his fear is a loving dog. After a thorough dental cleaning, we just need to show him that a good life has only just begun. He lives with other dogs, both male and female, and has no problems with that. We are sure that he will become what he is more easily in a proper family, without needing to be afraid. That is why we are looking for a family that has a lot of patience and love for him. Have you also fallen in love with this little bear? Do you think you can give him the calm and patience so that his true nature can shine through? He is neutered, tested (disease-free), dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has an EU passport. Stanley is currently in a foster home in 38176 Wendeburg. Stanley will be rehomed upon. About Stanley

What life with Stanley looks like

Stanley is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunde ohne Heimat e.V. in Bedburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stanley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stanley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunde ohne Heimat e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stanley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stanley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunde ohne Heimat e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stanley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stanley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunde ohne Heimat e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stanley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
