adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Starsky can travel directly to his final home! His story: Fantanele, Romania. 11-puppy kindergarten saved near a kindergarten—rescued Riva, Ria, Starsky, Ella, Narvik, Tora, Samweis, Ari, Tayto, Easy, and Poldi—a colorful litter of puppies! Here, no wishes are left unfulfilled, and there should be something for everyone. The 11 little rascals were in great distress: for there were already threats against them, and the kindergarten children had begun chasing them. But our local helpers had great luck. All 11 were found and are now housed in a private shelter in Fantanele. It’s not particularly pretty here, but the litter is safe and waiting for their people. At about 3 months old, Starsky currently weighs around 5 kg. We assume it will grow to be an average to large-sized dog. He is a friendly, outgoing male dog who loves to play with his siblings. His behavior matches that of a typical puppy. Playful, curious, and sure to give the occasional mischievous wink—Starsky will certainly not be boring! Starsky is looking for people who won’t expect much from him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes a mishap shouldn’t be held against him, and Starsky should always be guided with a positive training style. He is looking forward to his new life with nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should not be left alone as much as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They “forget” much of what they have learned, and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it is especially important during this phase to consistently—but lovingly—train. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Struppelnaschen Starsky can travel to his home microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Vielen Dank Elisabeth H.! Du hast Starsky seinen schönen Namen geschenkt!

About Starsky

What life with Starsky looks like

Starsky is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Starsky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Starsky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Starsky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Starsky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Starsky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Starsky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Starsky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
