Adopt Stefa

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Stefa is a 10-year-old German Shepherd who came to our shelter in very poor condition. She contracted pyometra - she was weak, had no appetite, and pus was coming from her reproductive tract. Her condition was so severe that without immediate help sepsis could have occurred. More here female dog was brought to the clinic at the last minute. She underwent urgent surgery which saved her life. Fortunately, Stefa recovered very quickly. Stefa is about 10 years old and weighs 52 kg. Despite her size, she is a calm and very balanced dog. She walks nicely on a leash during walks and does not pull. She often looks at the person she is with - she is very focused on people and likes to have contact with them. She is a smart, attentive and extremely grateful female dog. Everyone of the volunteers quickly grew fond of her. We are looking for a quiet, responsible home for her where she will feel safe.

About Stefa

What life with Stefa looks like

Stefa is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stefa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stefa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stefa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stefa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stefa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stefa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stefa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
