Adopt STEFI

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

Today, on the occasion of National Senior Pet Month, we present our senior dog STEFI. Bakica came to us in her older years and is one of our many seniors at the shelter. They are the most vulnerable group of dogs along with puppies and also the hardest to adopt. Few people dare to give an older dog a forever home even though they deserve it the most. STEFI is calm and gentle, she loves slow walks and has already mastered walking. She definitely needs more time to adjust and feel safe, but we believe there are people who would give her a chance. Currently, she does not share her home at the shelter with other dogs, although we do not exclude this option. She would get along well with children, but due to her calm nature, we believe an ideal home for her would be an older couple with a house and yard. Contact us about our STEFI and when you visit us next time, don't immediately rule out adopting a senior dog because they have a lot of love to give! She was born in December 2013 and is 56cm tall. Microchip number: 191100000691860.

Danas vam povodom mjeseca pasa seniora (engl. National Senior Pet Month), predstavljamo našu bakicu Stefi Bakica je došla k nama već u starijoj dobi te je samo jedna od naših mnogobrojnih seniora u skloništu. Oni su uz štence najranjivija kategorija pasa no i najteže udomljiva.

About STEFI

What life with STEFI looks like

STEFI is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Udruga Spas Varaždin in Varaždin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting STEFI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about STEFI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Udruga Spas Varaždin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw STEFI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt STEFI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Udruga Spas Varaždin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is STEFI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if STEFI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Udruga Spas Varaždin early rather than rehoming privately; they know STEFI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
