Stella

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Stella is a true treasure: cheerful, friendly and open, she approaches every person and enjoys attention. Who would like to give the fox girl a loving home? This beautiful dog, which could easily be mistaken for a fox, has only been at the shelter since the end of August. Information about her past is scarce; a deep wound on her neck suggests that Stella was chained in her previous life. Whether she was abandoned or was able to escape, we unfortunately do not know. The shelter came to the not only clever, but also very people-oriented dog by joining a group of hikers and accompanying them for miles. Fortunately, the neck wound heals very well without surgery, and Stella enriches the shelter with her cheerful, open nature. She is enthusiastic about every caress and attention and has no shyness in approaching strangers. Our club friends Corinna and Michael were completely smitten with the beautiful fox girl during their annual visit to Miskolc: "Stella is so friendly and affectionate. She is immediately open to us and would love to crawl into us - a real heartbreaker". Since Stella is still new, her compatibility with conspecifics has not yet been tested. This can be done at any time, as can her reaction to cats on site. Please read in advance on our homepage about the placement process and around the topic "dog". We have prepared extensive information materials for all areas. Please note the "self-disclosure" field below and send us this filled out first. After that, Stella's mediator will also be happy to contact you by phone. Like all our dogs, Stella travels with an EU pet passport and Traces papers. She is then neutered, fully vaccinated, freshly dewormed, treated with a spot-on against ectoparasites, tested for Giardia and possibly freshly treated, as well as with a blood test with organ values and tests for the diseases that occur in Hungary. In addition, all dogs travel with a suitable safety harness and with a GPS tracker including 1 year premium subscription. Please click on the "self-disclosure" link so that the PDF file opens. Depending on the browser, the file opens directly on the screen or must be clicked again at the bottom of the screen after it has been downloaded. You can fill in the fields of the file without additional programs and then click with the right mouse button in the document and select the option "save as". Please select the storage location, e.g. the "Desktop" of your computer. The file name "self-disclosure_Canifair_" is given. Please add your family name after the last "_" so that we can better assign the file. Please remember to enter the dog's name in the first field at the top. If you now send an email to the mediator mentioned in the ad, please attach the saved self-disclosure. This gives us a first impression and facilitates and accelerates the initial contact. Your data will not be passed on to third parties and will only be used in the context of a dog inquiry or the requested adoption.

About Stella

What life with Stella looks like

Stella is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Canifair e.V. in Kaarst.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Canifair e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Canifair e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Canifair e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
