adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Sterre has found her home! Her story: Our lovely Sterre was rehomed locally in Romania in 2023, but unfortunately, her owner passed away, which is why she had to return to the shelter and is clearly overwhelmed. Since her arrival, she has been crying a lot and is suffering greatly from not being part of a family. Therefore, we are now trying to find her a nice home quickly. The female dog, about 4 years old and around 60 cm in height, belongs to the larger breeds. She is very affectionate towards people and enjoys every bit of attention. She also gets along well with her fellow animals. Strerre has already met children, but the children should be well-behaved and familiar with dog handling. Her appearance and the beautiful white teddy fur make us suspect that Sterre may carry herding dog genes. Therefore, we would like to find her a rural home with people who are aware of the qualities herding dogs bring and appreciate them. Additionally, we would like Sterre to have a loving and friendly environment. She will certainly need to learn a lot more, but we are sure she will try her best. With a little patience and positive reinforcement training, Sterre will surely become a faithful companion that you won't want to miss. Sterre travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to her new home. She will bring an EU pet passport and would also be very happy with a foster home. Many thanks to Maria K., who gave Sterre her special name. A big thank you also goes to Viktoria R., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Sterre. Status: 23.12.

Stand: 23.12.2024

About Sterre

What life with Sterre looks like

Sterre is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sterre, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sterre?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sterre on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sterre if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sterre already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sterre isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sterre and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
