adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Storm is an approximately 2-year-old, about 55 cm tall, black German Shepherd, who immediately captivates with his presence and intelligent gaze. He brings everything that makes this breed special: intelligence, a love for learning, a strong work ethic, and a good dose of energy. As a typical German Shepherd, Storm is a dog who wants to work closely with his people. He is attentive, loyal, and forms strong bonds with his trusted people. At the same time, he typically has a strong need for a purpose and structure – mere mental stimulation on the side is not enough for him. He wants to be challenged and supported both physically and mentally. Storm is a very agile and lively dog who loves to be active and enjoys experiencing things with his people. Whether training, long walks, or head work – he is enthusiastic and shows motivation and willingness to learn. With other dogs, it depends on the relationship. Here, he communicates clearly and honestly. On the leash, it currently still proves difficult for him to remain calm during dog encounters – he then barks and moves forward. With consistent training, clear guidance, and the necessary calmness, this behavior can be directed into the right path. In his familiar environment, Storm shows himself as a loving and faithful companion. He greatly enjoys the proximity to his people and also meets children with friendliness and gentleness. Like many young, intelligent dogs, Storm still needs to learn how to be more calm. Here, he needs people who can help him with patience, structure, and clear rules to also endure relaxed phases and find security. For Storm, we are looking for an active, dog-experienced home – ideally with people who already have experience with herding dogs or similar working breeds. He needs people who enjoy working with him, challenge him meaningfully, and at the same time give him orientation, reliability, and calmness. A more quiet, structured environment without excessive chaos would be beneficial for him. Storm is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated. He would also be very happy to go to a foster home, as he must leave his current home. Many thanks to Daniel! You gave Storm his name. As of: 01.05.

Vielen Dank an Daniel! Du hast Storm seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 01.05.2026

About Storm

What life with Storm looks like

Storm is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Storm, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Storm?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Storm on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Storm if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Storm already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Storm isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Storm and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
