Adopt Stormy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Stormy is a loveable, friendly Husky who enjoys running around and snoozing. She is based at Battersea Old Windsor. She is a real character and everyone who meets her falls in love with her charisma, entertaining nature and huge fluffy coat. She’s currently enjoying time in foster, where her personality has really begun to shine. She loves nothing more than relaxing out in the garden, where she catches sunbeams where she can. Stormy adores attention and will roll over for a tummy tickle and waves her paws around to have more fuss. Given the opportunity she'll snuggle up next to her foster carers. She travels well in the car and loves zooming around private, secure fields. Stormy likes to chat and will let you know if she thinks it's time for a walk, and it's very endearing and comical. Stormy is social with other dogs and can enjoy polite interactions on walks but she would much prefer to have her own space at home. For this reason, she’s looking for a household where she can be the only dog but we would advise new owners to keep her socialised on walks. Stormy has been housetrained on foster but new owners should expect a couple of accidents when she is settling in. She loves being around people and has shown to struggle when being left on her own so she is looking for new owners that have minimal leaving hours and can work on building up Stormy's time alone slowly. She is getting better at staying settled as her foster carers move around but she does like to know where everyone is at home. She can be a little fussy with her food but enjoys some tasty treats, her favourites being tuna, scrambled egg or a tiny amount of cheese. Stormy will make a fantastic companion for a home that is active and enjoys adventures. About Stormy

What life with Stormy looks like

Stormy is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient, understanding owner due to nervous and sensitive nature

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stormy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stormy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stormy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stormy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stormy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stormy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stormy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
